Spider-Man – Dead Man’s Hand #1 (1997) : While studying the Jackal’s corpse, SHIELD scientist Dr. William Allen is suddenly transformed into one of Spider-Man’s most macabre foes, Carrion. This the third creature to use that designation but this one creates an army of zombies enthralled with only the thought of Spider-Man’s demise.

The ramifications of the Spider-Clone storyline, and its subsequent recanting, have left a number of loose ends in Spider-Man’s continuity. Carrion, the villain created by Dr. Miles Warren (also known as the Jackal) is one of those loose ends. Initially, Carrion was purported to be a clone of Warren. Then it was revealed that Warren did not actually create clones and that Carrion was instead a normal man infected with Warren’s genetic virus. When the Spider-Clone story played out, however, it turned out that Warren did indeed create clones. Dead Man’s Hand explains Carrion as a Warren angle.
