GetComics is 10 Years Old

Around today, 10 years ago, I started this website. It started as a really basic website. The most important thing is, that people could get an easy link to download the comic files. Since that day, this website has been inseparable from my life.

I manage the site daily, almost with no break for the last 10 years. Uploading and posting comics, replying to comments and emails, and responding to requests and issues. Waking up 3 – 4 am, to start uploading new files before I start to work. Logging off at 12 pm – 1 am after my lists for the site are done. Sneaking some upload at the office, when it’s a slow day at work. The point is to get as much as I can do for the day.

Over the years, keeping this website alive is getting harder and harder. So much stuff needs to be handled. Life, work, family, etc. The cost is also getting higher and higher, with each year passing by.

Especially the last 3 years, it has been really challenging. So much so, that a couple of years ago I asked for help in our discord channel. At that time, my daughter was born with a serious brain issue, forcing her to spend most of her first year in the hospital. This brings my family’s financial situation to its knees. We also having difficulties getting ads partner or donations to keep the site running. At that time, I am not sure if we will be able to survive. It was really, the lowest time of my life.

To be honest, I almost can’t believe that we made it into the 10th year. Time really does, fly so fast.

I’d like to give my biggest thanks to every one of you who has kept supporting us all this long. From sharing books, giving us donations, helping with technical issues and so many other things that I can’t mention one by one. Also, huge thanks to our friends that manage and keeping the discord channel alive. Thank you so much, guys.

I hope even with those challenges, we can keep this site going forward.
